About the home
Is Allegiance a nursing home?
No. Allegiance is a personal care home: a single-story community on Panola Road in Ellenwood, where a handful of residents receive 24-hour personal care and oversight. Nursing visits, therapy and hospice are coordinated with partner providers.
Do residents have their own rooms?
Yes. Every resident has a furnished private room with a flat screen and cable TV. Housekeeping, laundry and linen changes are included.
How many staff are there?
Allegiance has a 1:3 staff ratio, so care stays personal. Every member of the care team completes annual on-site training, and passes background and reference checks and drug screening.
Care
What levels of care do you provide?
We work with levels of care 1 to 4, grouped into three tiers: Supervision, Needs Assistance and Dependent Care. Each resident’s level is set by assessment and can change as their needs do.
Can you care for someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s?
Yes. A small, calm community with familiar routines and familiar faces suits many residents living with memory loss.
Do you manage medications?
Yes. Staff provide medication help and reminders, and medication management including insulin.
Is there a nurse?
We coordinate with partner nurses and home health agencies who visit the community, depending on the resident’s insurance.
Can a resident stay if they need hospice care?
Yes. We work with hospice and palliative care providers who come to the community, so residents can stay in familiar surroundings.
Cost and admissions
How much does it cost?
Prices are subject to assessment and may change based on individual needs. Call us and we’ll talk through what care your parent needs and what it would cost.
Do you accept Medicaid or insurance?
Allegiance is private pay only. Some partner services, such as nurse visits, therapy and hospice, may be covered by insurance, though availability and coverage vary. If your parent has a long-term care policy, bring it to your visit.
Are veterans welcome?
Yes. Veterans and their spouses are welcome, and VA benefits may help with the cost of care.
Do you offer short stays?
Yes. Respite care gives families a break, with the same care a long-term resident receives.
Daily life and visiting
What are the visiting hours?
Visiting and tour hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Sunday through Saturday. Please call ahead to schedule a tour.
What do residents eat?
Three home-cooked meals and two snacks a day. Mechanical, puréed and renal diets are available, and each resident’s dietary restrictions and allergies are followed.
What is there to do?
Card and game time, book clubs, stories, arts and crafts, music, social events, hair and nail spa days, and on-site religious services.
How will we know how our parent is doing?
We send monthly progress reports, and we communicate with families throughout the care process. You are always welcome to call.
Can residents get to appointments?
Scheduled local transportation is available, and there is parking on the premises for visitors.
