Veterans

Veterans and the spouses of veterans are welcome at Allegiance. If your parent served, VA benefits may help with the cost of their care, and we’re glad to help you ask the right questions.

VA benefits may help

Many wartime veterans and their surviving spouses who need help with daily activities may qualify for a VA pension with Aid and Attendance, which can go toward the cost of care in a personal care home.

Eligibility depends on service, income and need, and the VA makes the decision. A county veterans service officer can help you apply at no charge.

What to have ready

  1. Discharge papers. Your parent’s DD-214, or their spouse’s if they are a surviving spouse.
  2. Care needs. What help they need day to day. Our assessment can help describe it.
  3. Finances. Income, assets and current medical costs, which the VA considers.
  4. Talk to us. Call and tour the community while the application is under way.

Allegiance is private pay. VA benefits are decided by the VA, not by Allegiance.
